Derby frustration at the Wattens: Wacker foals draw draw

After a 1:1 remis, the Wacker foals rightly left the Gernot Long Stadium with a broad chest. The Derby frustration remained on the side of WSG Wattens, who were not the favourites.

Wattens – After the large rotation with the clearly lost ÖFB Cup play in Hartberg Wattens coach Thommy Silberberger sent again his “Einser-Garnitur” on the field. Anyone who believed that the experienced green-white eleven would be able to get the young black-green team to their liking every minute, was quickly taught better.

After the first big WSG chance – Milan Jurdik shot after a corner ball from two meters over the goal (8.) – the FCW-Youngsters put off the initial shyness. A Gallé shot deflected by Svoboda was the first warning sign (14th), a pole goal by Alex Gründler the huge chance on the guest lead (22nd). The landlords remained dangerous in the first place only in standard situations. And so the Wacker-Goalie Hidajet Hankic WSG playmaker Benni Pranter, who scored volley to 1-0 (32nd), put a fist defence that was too short. The foals from Innsbruck, however, remained at eye level at least, and continued to appear cheeky without much reinforcement from the professional department. The 1:1 equalization (38th) after a measure flank from Gründler on the head of Atsushi Zaizen was more than only logical.

FCW red spins

With another pole goal from Stefan Pribanovic the Wattener strained immediately before the break whistle the luck. The newly crowned Junior Cycling World Champion Laura Stigger was greeted enthusiastically as a fairy godmother in the Gernot Lange Stadium. Some gentlemen, especially on the part of the hosts, were relatively far away from such an energy performance as the Haimingerin had delivered.

The WSG didn’t really get going at the beginning of the second half either. Thommy Grumser’s Wacker II team, which was very well set up, also enjoyed this “small” Tyrolean soccer derby more.

It took until the 66th minute before Wattens sprayed real danger again: Hankic fished a full shot from Ignacio Jauregui but from the corner, the subsequent Stanglpass by Lukas Katnik did not put defensive boss Ione Cabrera in the net. The WSG brought the match back under control with the claim to play right at the front, central defender Michael Svoboda missed the match point (80th) by head and by another brilliant act of Hankic.

The alleged Wacker gold goal was disallowed in the final because of a previous foul, it remained a fair point sharing, which could give the Wackerians more joy. What was missing at Wattens? “Goalie Ferdinand Oswald was completely satisfied with “Everything”.” Sports manager Stefan Köck soberly summarized two lost points in the fight for the title: “In the last third we were too mau. They did their job very well and we missed a lot. Whenever we’re at the front, we always let up. That annoys me.” Check out Red Spins for more promotions and bonuses.

Rapid also lost to St. Pölten, new start record for Salzburg

The SCR Altach has broken the spell: The Vorarlberg team celebrated their first victory of the season on the ninth matchday, beating the Admira 4:2.

SK Rapid Wien – SKN St. Pölten 0:2 (0:0)

The crisis of SK Rapid has intensified. St. Pölten kidnapped all three points from Vienna with a 2-0 victory on Saturday. For the Hütteldorfer it was the fourth defeat in the ninth game of the season. While St. Pölten came second with 20 points – as many as in the entire previous season – Rapid is still seventh.

Rene Gartler scored in the 44th minute with his sixth goal of the season for the break for the Lower Austrians. Husein Balic scored the goal in the 64th minute to make the preliminary decision. Rapid played after a yellow-red card for Andrej Ivan (59.) there already to tenth.

The Viennese have only taken one point from the past four league games. They will continue on Thursday in the Europa League with the away game at the Glasgow Rangers. Coach Goran Djuricin will then no longer sit on the bench of the Rapidlers. Shortly after the end of the game, it became official that the Viennese team was separating from the coach, who had been controversial for weeks.

WAC – FC Red Bull Salzburg 1:4 (0:0)

Red Bull Salzburg broke Rapid’s 31-year-old start record with a 4-1 win at the WAC. Thanks to goals from Zlatko Junuzovic (47.), Munas Dabbur (55., 94.) and Reinhold Yabo (96.), the serial champion took the ninth victory in the ninth Bundesliga season match and left the eight-game Rapids series of 1987/88 to the dust of history.

Despite a 2-0 lead after Dever Orgill’s 72nd goal, the “bulls” still had 15 minutes to fear before Dabbur and Yabo finally settled the matter.

In the first WAC defeat after three wins en suite, the red card for WAC-Goalie Kofler in the 20th minute proved to be a decisive factor.

FC Admira Wacker – SCR Altach 2:4 (1:2)

The SCR Altach celebrated its first victory of the season in the Bundesliga. The Vorarlbergers managed their longed-for liberation stroke with a 4-2 away win at FC Admira. Coach Werner Grabherr’s eleven are now five points further down the table, but only one point behind Wacker Innsbruck and TSV Hartberg, who will play on Sunday. Felix Luckeneder (7th), Stefan Nutz on penalty kick (40th) and a double header by Simon Piesinger (50th, 53rd) stopped the Altacher Sieglos series with their goals. The last league victory so far was on 5 May 2018 (1:0 in Mattersburg).

For the Admira, Wilhelm Vorsager (42nd) scored the intermediate 1:2 follow-up goal, Sasa Kalajdzic scored on his comeback to the 4:2 final score (91st). The eleven of coach Ernst Baumeister, however, conceded their sixth defeat of the season and have been without a win in the domestic BSFZ Arena for seven games.
